THE SINGER: lyrics
In Tribute to John Denver
John often said he liked to be called THE SINGER
The Singer gives voice to the mountains
The Singer gives voice to the seas
The Singer gives voice to the children
He gives voice to you and to me.
The Singer gives voice to the eagle
The Singer gives voice to the wind
The Singer gives voice to the sunshine
He gives voice to you and to me.
The Singer now is silent,
But his melodies sing through me
The concert he sang is over
But his music helps us live free
His journey through this life is ended
His pathway has led him home
But together we share his message
The music he gave us lives on.
Though the Singer is silent
there still is the truth of the song.
The Singer gives voice to the morning
He gives voice to the end of the day
His songs tell the glory of God
And his lyrics sing forth today
The Singer gives voice to our feelings
He gives voice to a love that is gone
The Singer gives voice to our dreaming
And he sings to right the wrong.
His music rings through the heavens
His songs are sung by the stars
His melodies make love with the breeze
And his word find home in our hearts
The singer now is silent
But his songs are his legacy
His songs give home to tomorrow
He gives voice to the joy in me.
The Singer gives voice to the oceans
He gives voice to the falling leaves
He gives voice to falling leaves
The Singer gives voice to the flowers
He gives voice to all who are free
He gives voice to you and to me.
