Walk By My Side

and Be My Friend

I know the age-old saying
that I can be better than I am
With you there beside me
I can do what I think I can
My mind can know no limits
as I walk along my way
With you there beside me
singing, smiling, grinning
Happy just to be there
making time to share
Home is where you make it
not a castle or a cabin
Please, my friend, be happy like I am.

Living in the mountains
is the place I want to be
Happy in my Rocky Mountain heaven
Where the stars they look so happy
as they smile back at me
Where the shadows from the moon
make it seem as bright as noon
Where I walk along the trees
knowing here I was meant to be
Peaceful as we walk along together.

Come hold my hand
take it in your gentle hand
Walk along mountain trails beside me
Don’t try to lead,
just give me a gentle squeeze
To let me know you care,
and how you want to be there
To tell me of your love
of which I cannot get enough
Walk by my side and be my friend.
Walk by my side and be my friend.

Run with me through leaves
deep grass and four-leaf clovers
Climb with he high up to
the Rocky Mountain magic
Wade with me down running streams
before we grow much older
Just be my friend
don’t let it ever end
Please be my lover
you’re not like any other
Come and listen to my song
we’ll sing it all day long
I’ll be your friend
I’ll tell you if I can
I love you like I’ll never love another.

Don’t trudge on in front of me
I may not want to follow
Don’t follow in my footsteps
I may not want to lead
Don’t try to change my mind on things
or try to make me over
Just love me like I am
take me like I am
Tell me you care
and how you want to be there
Walk by my side and be my friend.
Walk by my side and be my friend.
